The night our husky went into labor was supposed to be ordinary, one of those anxious-but-excited moments every dog owner reads about and prepares for. We had researched canine pregnancy, monitored the signs, and stayed close as Luna paced, nested, and finally began contracting. At first, everything looked normal. Then the hours dragged on, and the room filled with a kind of fear that no checklist prepares you for.
One puppy became lodged during delivery, and no matter what we tried, nothing worked. We stayed with Luna for six long, exhausting hours, watching her strength fade while panic crept in. She trusted us completely, looking up with tired eyes that seemed to ask for help we couldn’t give. That moment broke something in us. We knew we were out of time.
