Old Christmas Controversy Resurfaces

As the holiday season begins, online chatter also revived a 2020 controversy involving Melania.
Last week, she welcomed the official White House Christmas tree — a yearly tradition for first ladies.

But in 2020, leaked audio released by former friend and adviser Stephanie Winston Wolkoff revealed Melania expressing frustration with holiday duties during the Trump administration.

In the 2018 recording, Melania vented that she was criticized for her husband’s border policies while being expected to enthusiastically lead Christmas décor efforts:

“They say I’m complicit. I’m like him. I don’t do enough. Meanwhile I’m working my a** off on Christmas stuff — who gives a f*** about Christmas decorations? But I have to do it.”

She also complained about being atta:cked for the family-separation policy while claiming similar issues existed under previous administrations.
